Brief, supportive conversations when you need guidance without committing to ongoing therapy.
Whatever you’re carrying—stress, uncertainty, or just a rough day—we make it easier to talk with someone who gets it. Chats are short, focused sessions designed to offer support, perspective, or next steps. They’re also a helpful option for caregivers or friends seeking advice on how to support someone they care about.
Sessions may include venting, problem-solving, exploring resources, setting goals, learning coping strategies, or gaining perspective.
Available in-person or virtually, with sessions lasting 30 or 60 minutes to fit your schedule.
Rapid, expert mental health support when things escalate and can’t wait.
When life feels overwhelming, our mental health urgent care services provide timely care without the stress of an emergency room. Most mental health crises can be safely and effectively addressed outside a hospital setting.
A mental health crisis may include situations such as:
- Intense anxiety or panic that feels unmanageable
- Sudden worsening of depression or mood symptoms
- Suicidal thoughts or concerns about personal safety
- Emotional distress following a major loss, conflict, or traumatic event
- Behavioral or emotional changes that feel out of control or concerning
- Caregivers unsure how to respond to escalating emotional or behavioral concerns
Our clinicians offer same-day evaluations to help you understand what’s happening, create a plan, and determine next steps. Each visit includes assessment, treatment and safety planning, and referrals if higher levels of care are needed.
Available in person only. If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
Evidence-based therapy grounded in measurable progress and meaningful outcomes.
SHFT offers individual therapy with licensed clinicians for people seeking short-term support or longer-term care. Our therapists work collaboratively with you to understand your goals and tailor treatment using proven, evidence-based approaches.
We routinely measure progress using validated tools to ensure care is effective, responsive, and aligned with what matters most to you. By tracking outcomes over time, we’re able to adjust treatment thoughtfully, celebrate gains, and stay focused on meaningful improvements - not just symptom reduction.
We support concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, mood disorders, and everyday life stressors.
Therapy is available in person or virtually, making it easy to continue care after an urgent visit or as a standalone service.
Personalized psychiatric care to support safe and effective medication treatment.
Our psychiatric providers offer comprehensive evaluations and ongoing medication management for individuals who may benefit from medication as part of their mental health care. Visits include symptom assessment, starting or adjusting medications, and ongoing monitoring.
Medication services are available for urgent needs and routine follow-ups. Treatment decisions are made during the visit based on clinical appropriateness and prescribing guidelines. Same-day evaluations do not guarantee same-day prescribing, and some medications may require additional information before they can be prescribed.
Available in person or virtually, with 60-minute initial appointments and 30-minute follow-ups as needed.
Pricing and insurance
SHFT is in-network with BCBS PPO and Aetna plans (effective 2/12/26), which means many clients can access care with predictable copays or coinsurance.
For all other insurance plans, SHFT is considered out-of-network. In these cases, we provide a superbill after each appointment — a detailed receipt you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement or keep for your records.
For self-pay clients, our pricing is straightforward and transparent, with no hidden fees. A sliding fee scale is also available, based on household size and income.
Coverage and reimbursement vary by plan, so we recommend contacting your insurance provider directly to confirm your mental health benefits, including copays, deductibles, and out-of-network coverage. Our team is happy to help answer general questions as you navigate this process.

Do you offer virtual care?
Virtual care is available for all services except urgent care visits. We prioritize in-person care whenever possible, as face-to-face interaction fosters connection, safety, and effective healing - especially during the early stages of treatment. For many of the young people we serve, in-person visits allow us to provide the most responsive and impactful support.
What age groups do you focus on?
We specialize in serving adolescents and young adults (ages 10–30), while welcoming clients of all ages.
What are the parking options?
Street parking is available on Franklin, Superior, and nearby streets. SHFT is also conveniently located next to the CTA Brown/Purple line stop for easy transit access.
What types of payment methods do you accept?
We accept Visa, Mastercard, and American Express, as well as payments via Zelle and Venmo. Most services are also eligible for HSA/FSA reimbursement.
